Newcastle United perspective on the Saturday Premier League fixtures today

Newcastle United perspective on the Saturday Premier League fixtures today

Looking at these Premier League fixtures on Saturday, in this latestround of matches.

Seeing the other games from a Newcastle United perspective.

Eddie Howe and his players not playing until 2pm on Sunday, at home to Aston Villa.

Which is one of four Premier League fixtures tomorrow, then Everton v Leeds on Monday night.

Now on Saturday though, as a Newcastle United fan, have a look at the five Premier League fixtures today and have a think about what you’d like to happen and what is most likely in terms of results.

Before that though, lets have a quick look at the table before any of these Premier League fixtures are played this weekend.

Premier League table on morning of Saturday 24 January 2026

My conclusions and predictions on Saturday’s matches

West Ham v Sunderland (12.30pm)

No doubts about who Newcastle United will be cheering on here.

After failing to win any of their last ten Premier League matches, West Ham got a 2-1 victory at Spurs last time, thanks to a very late Callum Wilson goal. That followed on from a first home win for the Hammers since 8 November 2025, when beating QPR in the FA Cup.

Sunderland had failed to win any of their last five Premier League matches before struggling past a decimated Crystal Palace team on Wearside in their last match, Palace losing Guehi just ahead of the 2-1 defeat.

It is 91 days since the Mackems last won a Premier League away game.

This is the kind of match West Ham need to win to stand any chance of surviving this season and at least they have a bit of confidence and momentum now. Hopefully a home win but I think a draw is most likely in this one.

Burnley v Spurs (3pm)

Their last 15 games in domestic football have brought Spurs nine defeats and only two wins.

Whilst they lift themselves for Champions League matches and have carried the luck as well in Europe, so many Spurs players clearly have hearts the size of a pea, and indeed are taking the p…

Burnley have only lost to Newcastle and Brighton in their last seven matches. Scott Parker’s team hammering Millwall 5-1 in the FA Cup and getting draws in the Premier League against Bournemouth, Everton, Man U and Liverpool most recently, at Anfield.

I wouldn’t be putting a penny on Spurs winning this and like West Ham against Sunderland, Burnley will see this as the kind of game they have to win.

I think they are a great bet to do so.

Fulham v Brighton (3pm)

Brighton predictably outclassed Man U at Old Trafford in the FA Cup but have won only one of their last nine PL matches, drawing five of them.

Fulham on the other hand have found some very good form, an eight match run of games seeing them win five, draw two and only lose to Newcastle in the Carabao Cup. Last time out they lost 1-0 at Leeds but were very unlucky to do so.

I think a draw is most likely in this match but if there is a winner, I think it will be Fulham.

Man City v Wolves (3pm)

After 12 straight defeats in all competitions, Wolves are suddenly unbeaten in five, winning two and drawing three.

Playing with more freedom and playing far better…

Man City were terrible at Old Trafford and lost 2-0 last weekend, after drawing their previous three PL matches. Pep’s side then worse than terrible as they lost 3-1 to Bodo/Glimt.

No doubt everybody will be thinking an easy Man City victory BUT that isn’t what the recent stats point to.

I can’t predict what will happen here but certainly wouldn’t be wagering on Man City winning at what will be ridiculously poor odds.

Bournemouth v Liverpool (5.30pm)

Liverpool have drawn their last four PL matches, failing to beat Leeds, Fulham, Arsenal and Burnley.

Bournemouth have drawn five of their last eight PL matches, winning one and losing two.

The Cherries have beaten Spurs 3-2 and drawn 1-1 at Brighton in their last two PL games, Brighton very lucky to get a draw when equalising late on.

I am backing Bournemouth to get at least a point here but I fancy them to win against a faltering Liverpool side.
