Louis Saha has been talking about Newcastle United.
The former NUFC striker talking about the situation now for Eddie Howe and NUFC.
Louis Saha signed on loan from Metz in January 1999 and ended up playing 12 times, the highlight of his brief NUFC stay was a winner at Blackburn in an FA Cup fifth round replay on the way to Ruud Gullit taking Newcastle to Wembley.
At the end of May 2025 after the conclusion of the 2024/25 Premier League season when Newcastle United finished fifth, Louis Saha declared: “They can definitely challenge for the title next season. I think winning the League Cup, and getting Champions League money next season, it’s a huge step and it allows them to build further under Eddie Howe. I think they’ve done brilliantly with how they’ve managed their progress. They’ve already experienced Champions League football under Eddie Howe and they didn’t let it knock them off their stride too much, they continued to get better. They’ve had to manage some tough times, like Sandro Tonali’s ban, but both he and they came back really strong, and they’ve built an exciting team to watch.”
A challenge for the Premier League title has proved too much, this time.
So many obstacles last summer for Eddie Howe.
So many competitions to compete in.
However, after United all but guaranteed progress to the last 16 of the Champions League last night in Azerbaijan, Louis Saha now telling CasinoHawks: “Newcastle have the capability to hurt any team, and I think they have shown that at their best that they can be a real contender in the Champions League. Newcastle will have a desire to go a long way.”
The former United striker adding: “The target is not just this year, it’s to really establish them and be a force. It’s only 10 years ago that they were in the Championship. We also have to remember that they have really improved, and they’ve done really well, which we should not forget. I do think that lifting a trophy was amazing for them. Now the target will be about the Champions League, they have beaten PSG in the past and other big sides, they can surprise the biggest teams in Europe. It’s so difficult to predict the Champions League but if they play at their best level, they could be the big surprise this season.”
