After the Alexander Isak debacle last summer, everyone involved at Newcastle United will want to avoid a similar situation ever unfolding like that again.
And to combat these fears, Sporting Director Ross Wilson and the recruitment team have taken the time to lock down a number of top stars to new deals, or at the very least begin the negotiations to do so.
Sandro Tonali and Sven Botman are already started, whilst Tino Livramento’s is certainly a work in progress amidst links to Manchester City and Arsenal.
Now according to a new article, one of our other top stars is set to see his contract extended, and you can’t say it isn’t incredibly well-deserved.
According to The i’s Mark Douglas, Newcastle plan to offer Lewis Hall a new deal on Tyneside.
Hall’s current contract expires in 2029, giving him another three years, but the club would be wise to reward his superb performances and hand the England talent a pay-rise to reflect his importance to the side.
Fresh off delivering one of the best performances of his career so far against Barcelona in the Champions League, pocketing Lamine Yamal with ease, Hall’s stock has never been higher.
And with the World Cup on the horizon, interest in Hall from the rest of the Premier League and Europe will only increase from here, increasing our urgency to lock down the left back.
There’s no denying that Lewis Hall alongside Tino Livramento are a simply unbeatable fullback duo, and the envy of the vast, vast majority of the Premier League.
So it would be crippling to the long term future of the club if either man was sold to a rival. We’ve already seen two of the ‘Big Six’ being linked with Livramento, it wouldn’t be too surprising if his contract negotiations also inspire interest from the other top sides.
It’s absolutely imperative that we avoid a similar situation unfolding with Hall. The prospect of losing a boyhood Mag to a rival club, just like Elliot Anderson as one who’s bound to become a starter for the England National Team, would be simply catastrophic.
