Newcastle set to launch £30m bid after Yoane Wissa twist at Brentford – Report

Another transfer saga could be heating up at Newcastle United as we look to bring in a forward following failed attempts to land Liam Delap, Joao Pedro and Hugo Ekitike over the last six weeks.

This afternoon, we’ve seen a flurry of updates on Yoane Wissa, who appears to be the latest striker we are now trying to sign.

BBC Sport’s Sami Mokbel reports that the 28-year-old has left Brentford’s training camp in Portugal to hold talks with director of football Phil Giles, who happens to be a boyhood Newcastle fan.

Newcastle, Spurs and Nottingham Forest are all keen to sign the Congolese international and talkSPORT are now reporting that we’re set to launch a formal bid.

After Forest had an offer below £25m rejected by Brentford earlier this month, talkSPORT’s Ben Jacobs and Alex Crook claim that Newcastle are set to offer ‘in excess of £30m’ for Wissa

Spurs are also keen and have held talks, with former Bees boss Thomas Frank clearly keen to be reunited with the striker who scored 20 goals last season.

Brentford have previously quoted a whopping £50m for the forward, but with the player pushing for a move away and refusing to entertain contract talks, Wissa’s suitors feel a knockdown fee could be agreed.
