Tuesday night’s win at Tottenham Hotspur felt massive in the context of our season.
It’s one game, one victory against a woeful Spurs side, and a result that won’t mean much if we don’t build on it for the remainder of a busy February, but there were plenty of positives to take just days after that disastrous defeat to Brentford.
We played some lovely football in the first half, didn’t let setbacks derail us, saw Jacob Ramsey deliver his best display since his £40m move from Aston Villa and fellow signing Anthony Elanga look a constant threat down our right.
It wasn’t just a rare away win and three points that close the gap to our European rivals, it was a big night for Eddie Howe, with the togetherness on display both during and after the game clear for all to see.
This unity, Ramsey’s passionate celebrations and the brilliant post-match scenes in front of the away end can be captured perfectly in Newcastle’s latest match cam footage, which you can watch in full below.
At a time where some where questioning Howe, wondering if he’d walk, doubting new signings and whether or not the players were still playing for the manager, some of those concerns were answered, for now at least, on Tuesday night.
Where Spurs looked a club in disarray, with fans calling for Thomas Frank to be sacked, the team a total mess and their captain absent again after his latest red card, Newcastle had a side battling for their manager and an away end chanting Howe’s name throughout, with the boss keen to repay that with his big celebration at the end!
Let’s hope this momentum can be used in the coming 10 days, with a trio of away trips to come against Aston Villa, Qarabag and Man City.
