Newcastle United are back in Premier League action tomorrow night, taking on Man Utd at St James’ Park in a must-win game for our European hopes.
Eddie Howe has been speaking to the media this morning, offering an update on injuries and availability as we look to bounce back from Saturday’s 3-2 defeat to Everton.
Jacob Ramsey is ‘trained fine’ on Monday, suggesting he’s recovered from illness that forced him off at half-time over the weekend, but Howe fears there may be some sickness in the squad.
That’s because Nick Woltemade hasn’t trained due to illness, leaving the German international a doubt for Wednesday night’s 8.15pm kick-off, even if Howe will give him ‘every chance’ should he improve.
Last but not least, Tino Livramento is getting ‘closer and closer’, although tomorrow’s game may come just too soon for our returning right-back.
“Jacob Ramsey trained fine yesterday. Nick (Woltemade) has come down ill. There’s obviously an illness in the squad. He hasn’t trained, but we will give him every chance for tomorrow.
“Tino Livramento is getting closer and closer, this game possibly comes too soon for him, we are desperate for him to become available.”
So, it sounds like Ramsey will be fine, with Woltemade unlikely to make it and Tino due back soon, which will come as a huge boost with Man City, Barcelona and Chelsea all to come over the next 10 days or so.
As expected, injured trio Bruno Guimaraes, Fabian Schar and Emil Krafth will all miss out again.
