Newcastle add 6ft 4 striker to shortlist alongside four Premier League stars – Report

Newcastle’s striker hunt continues, although it remains to be seen if we’ll be signing two or just one in the final month of the summer window.

One is essential to replace the released Callum Wilson, but two will be required should Alexander Isak also depart.

Yesterday, we saw a new name linked – confirming our exclusive back in early June – in Fulham’s Rodrigo Muniz, and The Mail’s Craig Hope has revealed another Premier League option added to the club’s shortlist.

In his latest Q&A, Hope states that Jorgen Strand Larsen is the latest name Newcastle are exploring, with the 6ft 4′ Norwegian described as a ‘dark horse’ to arrive in amongst several targets.

With Benjamin Sesko likely to join Man Utd and potential back-up striker Yoane Wissa proving tought to sign from Brentford, Newcastle are also taking a look at Larsen, alongside Brazilian Muniz.

The 25-year-old hit 14 league goals for Wolves last season and it’s thought his form hasn’t gone unnoticed on Tyneside, even if a slightly more high profile striker would be required should Isak leave.

With that in mind, Hope states that Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins is another player of interest and could be approached should Isak leave for Liverpool, with Eddie Howe is an admirer and he’d pass character checks.

Nicolas Jackson of Chelsea is available and also ‘on the list’, but Hope did reveal yesterday that the potentially expensive Senegalese striker isn’t high up that shortlist, as things stand.
