Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is nearly upon us, but that hasn’t stopped the highly-anticipated sequel from unveiling a new trailer that pulls the curtain on Shadow the Hedgehog, voiced by Keanu Reeves. The film features Ben Schwartz reprising his voice role as the blue-haired hedgehog and Jim Carrey as Dr. Ivo Robotnik aka Eggman, who pulls double duty this time around as his grandfather, Gerald. When Shadow becomes a threat too powerful for Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails to handle, they form an alliance with some familiar faces.
Paramount Pictures debuted a new trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 3 a few weeks from its December 20 release date, further unveiling the long-awaited battle between Sonic and Shadow. There are also a few Easter eggs eagle-eyed fans will spot here and there, including an homage to the opening cinematic of the 2005 game Shadow the Hedgehog. And yes, he does in fact brandish a gun, just like in his solo video game debut. Like in previous films, it seems Dr. Robotnik will be teaming up with Shadow to take over the world, and it will take more than just Sonic to take them down.
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 includes returning cast members James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, Idris Elba, Colleen O’Shaughnessey, Natasha Rothwell, Shemar Moore, Adam Pally, and Lee Majdoub. In addition to Reeves, franchise newcomers are Alyla Browne and Krysten Ritter as Maria Robotnik and Director Rockwell, respectively. Check out the official synopsis:

‘Sonic the Hedgehog 3’ is Full of Surprises
Fans have speculated that the new film will introduce another character from the video game franchise besides Shadow. The biggest guesses remain Amy or Rouge, who some believe is being hidden from marketing materials for Sonic the Hedgehog 3 including trailers. The director already confirmed that another character will be teased at the end of the film, so fans will have plenty to speculate about come December. Our bets are on a Silver the Hedgehog tease, specifically in the inevitable post-credits scene.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is the sequel to the 2022 comedy-adventure movie that featured the Blue Blur and his companions on an adventure to stop Dr. Robotnik from taking over the world. The new film sees the new antagonist Shadow the Hedgehog, arriving to cause trouble for the newly formed trio of heroes, Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles, as they adjust to their earthly lives.
