New Images From ‘Jurassic World Rebirth’ Reveal Sequel’s Exotic Locations

We’re still a little more than six months out from the premiere of Jurassic World Rebirth, but thanks to some newly released images from the movie, we now have a closer look at some of the sequel’s exotic locations. Set to hit theaters on July 2, 2025, the latest sequel in the long-running dinosaur franchise takes place five years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion, and introduces us to a fresh crop of faces, including Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, and Jonathan Bailey.

Per Entertainment Weekly, the new images from Jurassic World Rebirth (seen below) highlight some of the film’s beautiful locations, which include Thailand and the island country of Malta. Of course, filming in such remote areas came with its own set of challenges, which director Gareth Edwards says he tried to keep secret from the cast, especially when it came to the poisonous water snakes. Yikes!

“I’m allowed to say this now that we’re on the other side of it, but we shot in rivers and these mangrove swamps. When we were scouting them, we saw poisonous water snakes, massive ones that we had to catch. We kept it quiet from the actors as they spent a whole day wading through the same area. And there were giant spiders that were poisonous and stuff on the edge of the trees. You just wouldn’t point them out if you saw them. Just keep going!”

David Koepp’s return the the ‘Jurassic Park’ franchise will bring the series back to its roots.

Johansson portrays Zora Bennett in Jurassic World Rebirth, a skilled covert operative that’s tasked with leading a team onto an island that houses three of the biggest dinosaurs left in the world, who – as luck would have it – happen to hold the key to a drug that will bring miraculous life-saving benefits to humankind. The job is simple: get in, extract some DNA, and get out. Of course, as we’ve all come to expect by now, nothing is “simple” in the Jurassic World universe, and mayhem ensues in Rebirth, which will hopefully be the start of a new trilogy of films.

The Cast of ‘Jurassic World Rebirth’ Had Some “Near-Death” Experiences

From the jungles of Thailand to the Mediterranean Sea, Edwards went all over the place to film Jurassic World Rebirth’s exteriors in as many real locations as he could. However, while the movie may kick off a new trilogy, the director says that the one place he won’t be returning to is the ocean. Not only did he find out how unpredictable shooting on open waters can be, but he also mentioned to EW that the cast had some “near-death experiences” that, while worth it, took their toll on everyone.

“It’s probably the last film I ever shoot in the ocean because it was very difficult. I’m glad we persevered, but I think everybody, all the actors, went through as crazy a journey as the characters in the film, these very physically demanding, sometimes near-death experiences that had these high-reward factors if you managed to succeed.”

You can find out for yourself if the risk was worth the reward when Jurassic World Rebirth hits theaters everywhere on July 2, 2025 from Universal Pictures.
