There’s a lot to do in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and after having been out for so long, players have mastered the art of filling their bank accounts with bells. Paying off debt is the main objective of most of the Animal Crossing games, and players who are sick and tired of being in debt have devised tons of ways to prevent that from ever happening again.
Bells come from quite a few places in ACNH, but what are the best ways to gather them quickly? Raw items in ACNH are usually not worth as much as the crafts you can create with them. For instance, one Gold Rose sells for 1,000 Bells, but a Gold Rose Crown sells for 12,000 Bells and only uses six gold roses. That’s double the profit!
Before Update 3.0, crafting was fairly tedious. You had to have the items you needed in your pockets, and make things one at a time. With the new update, though, crafting has never been easier.
Items can be crafted with materials directly from your storage, and you can (finally!) craft multiple items at one time, as YouTuber N64Josh demonstrates. You can even set up a crafting station outside of Nook’s Cranny. Throw crafting items into storage, then craft and sell in bulk.
Buy And Resell Hotel Souveniers

ACNH Update 3.0 brought the Hotel Resort to your island, where villagers from across the Animal Crossing world can stop by for a visit. And, like any good resort, the hotel has a nifty souvenir shop run by Grams, the matriarch of the Kapp’n family. Players can buy items from this exclusive shop using Hotel Tickets, which you can earn by decorating hotel rooms and crafting requested DIY items.
Since Hotel Tickets are fairly easy to earn, it’s also fairly easy to keep buying items from Grams’ store. Every day, Grams will have two items for sale at a cheaper price than their listed catalog price. You can also order up to five items per day from the catalog.
Hotel items can be sold at Nook’s Cranny for a decent profit, especially since you don’t have to spend any Bells to earn Hotel Tickets. Some of the best value items to get for resale are the Artful Screen, Bird-of-paradise plant, or the Pampas grass—all of which cost 80 Tickets and sell for 2,000 Bells. Koramora Shows Viewers A Sea Of Blue Roses
Blue Roses are some of the hardest flowers to get in ACNH, and they’re priced accordingly when you sell them. YouTuber and streamer Koramora has planted an entire island of them, and they’re making bank.
Unfortunately, this was no easy process; it took hours to clear the island, plant all the blue flowers she had in her inventory, and then prune out the other colors of flowers as the blue ones took time to propagate and spread.
Overall, it took her much longer than expected to fill her island with Blue Roses thanks to the RNG that goes into flower breeding in ACNH. Whenever new flowers are created by two planted flowers breeding, they have a certain chance to spawn each color of flower. This meant that Koramora was clearing out white, red, and black roses from her island while she was waiting for it to fill up with blue flowers.
If you want to replicate Koramora’s process, find a day when it rains, time travel using your Switch’s clock settings, then time travel back to the rainy day. This will cause flowers to be watered by the rain rather than having to do it yourself.
After days of time-traveling, planting, pruning, and picking Blue Roses, Koramora ended up making 6.5 million Bells, which isn’t too shabby a number on its own. However, take into consideration the time and work that goes into filling up your island with these rare beauties to figure out if it’s worth it for you. Players looking for a challenge for challenge’s sake will enjoy flexing their green thumb, but those looking to get rich quick will want to look elsewhere.

Reddit user Suhteva discovered a trick that’s only applicable when the Donation Box is the hot item at Nook’s Corner. The trick is to fill the Donation Box with as many Bells as possible, then sell it at Nook’s Corner while it’s hot. When sold, the Nooks give the player double however much money is inside the box.
This allows players to quickly accumulate money, although Donation Boxes can only hold up to 99k Bells. To craft a Donation Box, players can get the pattern using Nook Miles at the Kiosk in the town center.
The only downside to this strategy is needing to fill the boxes themselves. Unless players have an aftermarket controller that allows auto-spam, they’ll need to spend around ten minutes at a time pressing the A button to fill the box with Bells. If the player presses A after the box is full, all the bells will be removed and the player will need to start over again. For some players, this isn’t worth the hassle, but for the patient ones, this is a simple method of Bell generation.
When compared to other methods of accumulating Bells, doubling 99k Bells at a time doesn’t seem like much, but it’s a lot easier than filling an entire island with blue roses to sell. That being said, 10 or so Donation Boxes sold this way will generate enough money to pay off Tom Nook. For players looking for quick cash, they’ll just need to wait for a Donation Box hot item to roll around at the Nook’s Corner.

The Stalk Market was first introduced in the original Animal Crossing, and has traveled through the games all the way up to New Horizons. This is just one way to make Bells in the game, and can also be the least consistent, since there’s really no best time to sell turnips. Just like the real stock market, betting your Bells on a high return doesn’t always pay off.
The safest and classic way to hit big on the Stalk Market is to buy low, and sell high, and there are specific ranges in price that tend to be the most consistent. YouTuber Hunter R. explains, however, that this method isn’t really the best way to really make bank. Instead, players should wait for a price spike, which is a day when the store will buy turnips for exactly eight times the price they were bought for.
The Stalk Market in the original Animal Crossing can be predicted as well, allowing players to guarantee high profits. Hunter R. credits another YouTuber, BrianMp16, with the findings of how to determine what a player’s RNG seed number is at a given moment using the furniture that appears in Tom Nook’s shop.
Unfortunately, this discovery is only relevant to the original Animal Crossing game for the GameCube. You can try using a tool like the Turnip Prophet to try and predict turnip prices on a given week. In the meantime, buy low, sell high, and look out for price spikes to sell precious turnips.

Many players can take advantage of the typical Stalk Market shenanigans and even head to other players’ islands to sell their turnips at a good price. Treasure Islands are an even better way to earn bells. Many Treasure Islands, like the ones posted by Reddit user hintofocean, exploit a certain glitch that allows visitors to max out their bank accounts. These islands are relatively common, but also high-traffic, so visitors will need to be patient while there.
Players that care about their achievements should avoid this method, and instead turn to some other, non-glitched ways to earn Bells in ACNH.
These “max money turnips” are also called magic turnips, and can be found in stacks of 30 on some Treasure Islands. To take advantage of their glitch, all players have to do is grab one stack of turnips, take it back to their island, and sell them. When sold, the Nooklings will tell the player a strange, negative amount in terms of price. If this is the case, players will know their turnips are glitched.
Be aware that Treasure Islands that promise this turnip hack are always exploiting a glitch, so they might come with some consequences, like getting console banned.
Once the turnips have been sold, players will see that their bank account has reached one billion Bells. However, there is a downside to this method. Because of the way the glitch works, the “Cornering the Stalk Market” achievement, and possibly other Nook Mile achievements, will be unavailable. Players who care about their achievements should avoid this method, and instead turn to some other, un-glitched ways to earn Bells in ACNH.

As TagBackTV explains in his YouTube video, tarantula and scorpion hunting is a consistent, if a bit time-consuming, way to grab around 100,000 to 300,000 Bells per Nook Miles Ticket purchased. Players should grab a shovel, vaulting pole, net, and any other traversal essentials, then get a Nook Miles Ticket to get started. Then, wait until nighttime and head to the airport to set out.
Once players reach their destination, the whole island will need to be cleared, which will then force the game to begin spawning tarantulas. Chop down all the trees and pull the stumps, clear out any flowers, and break all the rocks, and Tarantulas should be the only thing that can spawn.
Tarantulas are worth 8,000 Bells each, so with a full inventory, players are looking at a cool couple hundred thousand each time, depending on the number of inventory slots they have unlocked.
If players want to make more money off these crawly critters, they should wait for Flick, the bug enthusiast, to visit their island and sell them for a marked-up 12,000 Bells apiece.
Bell Boom Ordinance And Nook’s Cranny Shenanigans
One Reddit User Has Found Another Way To Get Bells From The Nooklings
Using the “Bell Boom Ordinance” at their Resident Services, Reddit user CeeCeeLo has found a fast way to essentially print piles of Bells from the Nooklings. Unlike with the Donation Box, there’s no need for any hot items here. Players can craft Piles of Cash ad infinitum and sell them to the Nooklings for a rather outrageous sum. The Bell Boom Ordinance causes items in the shop to be 20% more expensive, but also provides 20% more profit when selling them.
If the Pile of Cash is the hot item, this trick will be even more effective.
With a full inventory of Piles of Cash (or another item that only takes Bells to craft, like the Golden Dishes), players can make millions of Bells per transaction. There’s no way to know what benefit the Nooklings get out of this interaction; is it money laundering? Who’s to say?
Either way, this trick is sort of tricky to come across and mostly relies on the luck of getting the right Hot Item, but it’s a medium investment, high return sort of situation. The only thing needed is a bit of luck and a bit of work to make all the Bells anyone could need.
This Golden Roses Trick Is, Well, Tricky
If Players Have The Right Items, They Can Grow Infinite Golden Roses
Using the same time-travel trick that koramora used to grow her Blue Roses, all players will need is a bunch of Blue or Black Roses to get started farming Golden ones. Redditor No_Macaron6691 has found that they can get up to 500,000 Bells per time-travel with a sizable patch of Golden Roses.
The trick here is to find a day when it’s raining, easiest in December, and keep repeating it to grow the roses quickly, pruning any non-Golden ones each day. Like with koramora’s Blue Roses trick, this trick takes a bit of legwork to function, but overall nets a pretty hefty sum of Bells.
The only RNG it relies on is the color of the roses produced, and the rain increases the player’s chances of getting Golden ones. Players who don’t want to spend their time at the Stalk Market might want to try this trick.
Take Advantage Of The Bank System With Time-Travel
Time Traveling Is A Free Way To Make Money
YouTuber Verlisify shows players that playing the banks is easier than expected with time travel. As mentioned previously, time-traveling in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is as simple as changing the Switch’s clock to a time further ahead than real time. Then, players can turn the clocks back after whatever they want to do in-game is done.
To use the bank exploit, put any number of Bells into the Nook ATM. Then, time travel forward to the Switch’s upper limit, which is the year 2060. After returning to the game, players will find 99,999 Bells in interest in their mailbox. This is the highest amount of interest a player can make, and after only a few time-skips, their Bell accounts will fill up quickly.
