New Elon Musk Documentary ‘Tesla Files’ Looks To Expose Tesla

Billionaire businessman Elon Musk is almost as prominent a figure in the United States government as the president himself — but how much do we really know about Musk’s controversial rise to power? A new documentary tentatively entitled Tesla Files hopes to reveal the secrets of Musk’s past, while simultaneously exposing the danger of his current political influence.

Based on 100 GB of leaked files and data from Tesla whistleblower Lukasz Krupski, the unfinished documentary will see an early screening this week at the Copenhagen International Documentary Film Festival. Krupski was fired from Tesla in 2022, and has since exposed the company’s lack of safety standards and overall deplorable working conditions, which included attempting to suppress issues related to their vehicle manufacturing and corporate culture. Alongside Krupski’s testimony, Tesla Files also includes interviews with other Tesla employees and whistleblowers. Read the synopsis below:

“To understand Elon Musk today, we must examine The Elon Musk System — how he announces ideas, executes them, and relentlessly pushes forward technological solutions, often at the expense of truth and with real human consequences”

The documentary uses three different narratives to reveal the danger of Musk’s newly acquired political power. The first narrative takes a magnifying glass to Musk’s relationship with Tesla, and explores how he used the company as a stepping stone in his journey from tech mogul to wannabe politician. The second utilizes testimonies and interviews with the victims of Tesla’s subpar safety standards, demonstrating how Musk’s image as a genius innovator attempts to hide the realities of suffering and loss that his company causes. Finally, the third segment of the documentary investigates Tesla’s extensive record of cover-ups and evasive behavior, relying on the tireless efforts of journalists and lawyers to expose the connections between Musk’s corrupt empire and the United States government.

What Makes ‘Tesla Files’ So Relevant?

It’s no understatement to say that there are a lot of concerning things happening in the federal government right now. Unfortunately, Elon Musk happens to be responsible for at least 50 percent of those things. As the newly instated Senior Advisor to the president, Musk has unprecedented power to affect U.S. citizens — and he’s not afraid to use it. His most recent — and most controversial — move is the Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, which has enacted numerous Orwellian policies, such as firing large swathes of federal employees, attempting to access citizens’ private data, and desperately re-hiring the employees that they fired.

Tesla Files seeks to answer the question that many Americans are likely asking: how does Musk, as an unelected member of the government, have so much power to affect our daily lives? By exposing a long legacy of corruption and greed in Musk’s career, the documentary not only asserts that he’s been rigging this game from the start, but also emphasizes the continued danger of letting him run rampant in the political sphere. Musk’s actions at Tesla are unfortunately a perfect microcosm of what we can expect of him as Trump’s Senior Advisor: fraud, secrecy, and suppression, all for the sake of lining Musk’s voracious pockets.

Tesla Files is only halfway through production, and an official release date is still unknown.
