Everton Academy striker George Morgan has signed a new contract with the club that runs until June 2028. Also, he has been loaned out to AS Cannes, another club in the TFG stable, until the end of the season.
Morgan came to prominence as a striker for Everton U18s, scoring 7 goals in 13 league matches for them last season, and earning him a step up to the Under-21s as well.
Since last August, he has made 15 appearances for the U21s but has only scored two goals this season. One was after coming on as a late sub with just 3 minutes left to score the winner in Everton’s Premier League International Cup group game against Monaco U21s. The other was against Grimsby Town in the EFL Trophy.
Nick Cox, Everton’s Technical Director, said of the 19-year-old: “This is an opportunity for George to gain valuable experience in a different country. With AS Cannes also part of the TFG family, we know George is in the very best hands as he continues his development.”

He’s gone under the radar a bit, and AS Cannes are in the 4th tier of French football, so maybe trying to establish just what his level really is?
That is of course as long as he can focus on his football in the South of France and is not distracted by the lovely ladies promenading along Le Croisette when the weather improves!
