Netflix’s 10/10 “Action Packed” Sci-Fi Series Is a Sensation on Digital Streaming

Netflix’s 10/10 “Action Packed” Sci-Fi Series Is a Sensation on Digital Streaming

One of the most action-packed sci-fi fantasy shows (that’s right, it’s both genres!) is making an unexpected comeback on the digital streaming charts. The series only debuted in 2024 and, after a very short turnaround, dropped its second season just last year. The show is streaming on both Netflix and Crunchyroll. But, for some fans of the absolutely bonkers action series Dandadan, that’s not enough. Maybe they want to own it on every available platform. Or, they’re just big fans of the Amazon Store. Eitherway, Dandadan is finding success on yet another platform.

As well as being available to stream on Crunchyroll and Netflix, Dandadan can also be purchased digitally on the Amazon Store (and other digital streaming platforms). In fact, the series has shot up the digital streaming charts. At the time of writing, the show is the fourth most popular series on the store this week, with RuPaul’s Drag Race holding the top spot.

Dandadan is based on the action-packed manga by Yukinobu Tatsu, who previously worked under Chainsaw Man‘s Tatsuki Fujimoto and Hell’s Paradise‘s Yuji Kaku. Those properties clearly rubbed off on Tatsu, who created one of the most bonkers Shōnen series around. The show follows Momo and Okarun, one of whom believes in aliens while the other believes in the paranormal. While trying to prove the other wrong, they discover that they’re both right. That fateful night costs Okarun one of his (prepare yourself) balls, and the pair must work together to get it back. We told you it was bonkers. If that wasn’t crazy enough, there’s a demon that has possessed a Maneki-neko cat, an overly sexualized grandma, creepy aliens, giant mecha fights, and so much more. The series is already two seasons in, and the weirdest parts are yet to come.

‘Dandadan’ Will Return for Season 3

To the surprise of absolutely nobody in the anime community, Dandadan will come back for a third season. Season 2, which was co-released on Crunchyroll and Netflix, is one of the highest-rated anime in recent years and was nominated for Crunchyroll’s Anime of the Year Award in 2025 (and MovieWeb’s Best Anime of 2025 list). It also dominated anime forums and fan groups after each episode. Those who had read the manga sang the praises of Studio Science SARU, while newcomers to the show wondered how much weirder the show could get (the answer: so much weirder).

Science SARU will return to animate the third season. An official release date hasn’t yet been revealed, but fans are expecting it to be released sometime in 2027. Unlike Hollywood, Japan’s anime industry is far more guarded of its production timelines. We’ll only know a true date once Science SARU or Crunchyroll reveals it (unless it leaks online).

Fans are also expecting Dandadan to return to theaters for its third season. Following the rising trend of pre-season release movies, Dandadan packaged the first three episodes of its second season into a feature-length release, titled Dandadan: Evil Eye. The film opened a month before the show’s debut on streaming and grossed almost $7 million worldwide in 2025.
