While the iconic Universal Pictures franchise Jurassic Park may have set up shop on Peacock’s streaming service, that hasn’t deterred dominant streamer Netflix from bringing its own dinosaurs to play. Featured prominently in the anticipated One Piece live-action series for season 2, Little Garden is bringing a brand-new spin along the likes of Isla Nublar.
This comes courtesy of the latest glimpses at One Piece season 2 as provided by Netflix ahead of its March 10, 2026 release date. Little Garden, much like in Eiichiro Oda’s original manga, is a largely-undisturbed prehistoric island, but with the added twist of two dueling giants, with the Straw Hats needing to pass by on their way to Alabasta.
One Piece Brings Big Trouble to Little Garden
While not perhaps making the dinosaurs the central attraction of Little Garden, with Elbaph’s giants Dorry and Brogy sure to steal the show alongside a deadly assault from the Baroque Works syndicate, their terror is undeniable. What’s wild is, for longtime One Piece fans, dinosaurs are far from the wildest creature creations to feature in the series.
Still, with the continuous absence of more fantastical and adorable animals like Karoo or the Kung-Fu Dugongs from any promotional material, this, alongside the half-reindeer crewmate Tony Tony Chopper, is a thrilling sight to behold. They appear set to feature in the episodes titled “Big Trouble in Little Garden” and “Wax on, Wax Off” for One Piece season 2.
What Happens in One Piece’s Take on Jurassic Park?
If dinosaurs aren’t enough, the Straw Hats run into the century-long series of duels between Dorry and Brogy, two remnants of a crew of giants who came ashore 100 years ago. With only the winner getting to return to Elbaph, the fight is fierce, and is interrupted by another dangerous visiting force, Baroque Works.
Thus the Straw Hats find potential allies in the giants while braving the threats of Mr. 3, Miss Goldenweek, Mr. 5, and Miss Valentine, while finding a way to reset their Log Pose, or find an entirely new one, to escape the island. The resulting adventure even has potential to adapt one of the One Piece anime’s funniest scenes ever.
The crazy bit is just how much of a warmup the dinosaurs in One Piece’s spin on Jurassic Park truly are. After all, it’s the Grand Line, where the threats and friendlies alike are often much larger, with deadly Sea Kings, and tragic island whales like the beloved Laboon.
That’s before even getting into the absurdity of near-future arcs, with one sky-dwelling foe likely inspired by Eminem. But that’s a story for another day.
