Netflix Action Thriller With Tom Hardy & The Raid Director Gets Release Update

Netflix Action Thriller With Tom Hardy & The Raid Director Gets Release Update

You may not even be aware that Oscar nominee and Venom star Tom Hardy has already filmed an action thriller for Netflix directed by the filmmaker behind the martial arts masterpiece The Raid. If you were not aware, allow me to say that again: Tom Hardy is leading an action thriller from the director of The Raid. Titled Havoc, Hardy reportedly finished filming more than three years ago, but we still do not know when it will debut on the streaming platform.

Thankfully, we may at least now have some idea. Director Gareth Evans, who has also helmed Merantau, The Raid 2, and Apostle, took to Instagram a few months ago to reveal that Havoc will (hopefully) hit Netflix in the first quarter of 2025. See what Evans had to say about the production of the action movie below.

“Only the most glamorous of locations. But working with the best of friends. That’s a wrap on additional photography for Havoc. Massive thanks to cast and crew for their support and hard work over the past 2 weeks.

Next up…. 5-6months of post (editing, VFX, colour, sound) so we can make everything nice and shiny and loud ready for what will hopefully be a Q1 release next year No trailer, promo materials will be released before the film is finalised and mastered so in a bid to temper expectations – don’t expect anything before the new year.

Until then, excuse me while I crack on with work, posting about other people’s movies (do go see Longlegs!) and the occasional snap of my Labrador.”

Tom Hardy & Gareth Evans Are a Match Made in Action Movie Heaven

The combination of Inception and Warrior star Tom Hardy and The Raid director Gareth Evans will surely be a match made in action movie heaven. And the simple, no-nonsense premise will no doubt have you even more excited. Havoc has been written and directed by Gareth Evans, and picks up after a drug deal gone wrong, when a bruised detective must fight his way through a criminal underworld to rescue a politician’s estranged son, while unraveling a deep web of corruption and conspiracy that ensnares his entire city. Hardy will, of course, leap headfirst into the action as the downtrodden “bruised detective.”

Hardy, meanwhile, has previously described the Netflix venture as “good high-end face-kicking,” heaping praise on Evans and his affinity for martial arts and action movie thrills.

“It’s real genre. If you’re gonna do martial arts, then Gareth’s your guy.”

The movie is now available to stream.

Hardy will be joined on this explosive adventure by Academy Award winner Forest Whitaker and star of Justified and The Mandalorian, Timothy Olyphant and Oscar winner Forest Whitaker. Making up the rest of the supporting cast are Xelia Mendes-Jones, Justin Cornwell, Jessie Mei Li, Yeo Yann Yann, Quelin Sepulveda, Luis Guzmán, Sunny Pang, and Michelle Waterson.

Tom Hardy can currently be seen in his third and final outing as Eddie Brock/Venom in the Sony Spider-Man Universe. Directed by Kelly Marcel, Venom: The Last Dance stars Hardy alongside Chiwetel Ejiofor, Juno Temple, Rhys Ifans, Peggy Lu, Alanna Ubach and Stephen Graham, and finds Eddie and Venom on the run.
