Neil Gaiman’s ‘The Sandman’ Canceled at Netflix After 2 Seasons Amid Allegations

The Sandman
‘s upcoming second season will be the final run of episodes for the Netflix show based on the graphic novels by Neil Gaiman
.

Season 2 of The Sandman is set to arrive on Netflix this year amid a stream of allegations of abuse against creator Gaiman, which has seen several in-development projects being scrapped or wound down in the last several weeks. A new poster for the series has marked the new season as “The Final Season,” marking the end of a series that spent decades in the making, only to be seemingly cut short. However, according to showrunner Allan Heinberg, the cancelation has not come about as a result of Gaiman’s recent legal issues, but more a culmination of the material available about the main subject of the show – Morpheus aka Dream, played by Tom Sturridge. In a statement shared on the official Sandman X/Twitter account, Heinberg said:

“‘The Sandman’ series has always been focused exclusively on Dream’s story, and back in 2022, when we looked at the remaining Dream material from the comics, we knew we only had enough story for one more season. We are extremely grateful to Netflix for bringing the team all back together and giving us the time and resources to make a faithful adaptation in a way that we hope will surprise and delight the comics’ loyal readers as well as fans of our show.”
