Netflix‘s extremely divisive drama sees a huge Rotten Tomatoes redemption thanks to a higher critics score for season 2 of the returning show. The popular streaming service is no stranger to critical division, including for some of its more popular TV shows. Reviews for Squid Game season 3, for example, were quite divided among critics and audience members alike.
The streamer has plenty of dramas that fall into this category due to how much content they release. There are plenty of critically acclaimed Netflix original TV shows, but there are just as many with middle-of-the-road reviews. This even goes for some of their more popular series. Luckily, one recent returnee has managed to turn its lukewarm critical reception around.
My Life With The Walter Boys Season 2 Has Redeemed Itself In The Eyes Of Critics
Based on critical reviews, My Life with the Walter Boys season 2 is faring much better than season 1. The teen drama focuses on Jackie Howard, a 15-year-old girl taken in by the Walter family of seven sons and one daughter. Season 1 scored a 42% with critics, though managed to earn a 71% from audiences as well.
Now, Rotten Tomatoes reports that My Life with the Walter Boys season 2 has earned a 67% from critics, much better reviews in contrast to season 1. However, the audience score dropped a bit to 63%; the follow-up didn’t fare as well with general viewers. Even so, critics appear to have liked these new episodes better than the debut season.
What My Life With The Walter Boys Season 2’s RT Score Means For The Show
My Life with the Walter Boys season 2 reviews have been much kinder to the show, even if they’re still mixed. Critics praised a broader focus on the Walter family that didn’t put the show’s love triangle first, helping further develop its characters. However, others critiqued it for a slow story with a lack of a concrete focus.
Despite how middle-of-the-road many reviews have been, it didn’t stop Netflix from renewing My Life with the Walter Boys season 3 ahead of season 2. The ending of the latest episodes laid the groundwork for where the series will go, signaling another chance for the series to impress critics despite its initial reception. This seems doable given its recent improvement.
Although the series’ Rotten Tomatoes score isn’t as high as more well-received shows, My Life with the Walter Boys has proven itself a continuous success for Netflix. With season 2’s release garnering more positivity, the show is clearly improving in the eyes of critics. This is something that could continue to be bolstered as more seasons come out.
My Life with the Walter Boys season 3 is expected to arrive on Netflix in 2026.
