Newcastle have arrived in Saudi Arabia and begun training at Al-Awwal Park; the home of Al-Nassr and Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.
This training camp in Riyadh offers the non-international players a valuable chance to regroup, bond and train under optimal conditions, with Eddie Howe’s Mags enjoying the hot conditions, engagement with Saudi fans and a trip to the boxing on Saturday night.
Howe and his staff will lead the warm-weather camp and schedule a few intensive sessions away, while also trying to strengthen the club’s ties in Saudi Arabia; the home of their majority owners, the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) in our third trip since the takeover.
The players flew out to Saudi Arabia on Friday and trained at Al Nassr’s 25,000-seater venue on Saturday in an open session attended by fans. Last night, the likes of Howe, Mitchell, Bunce, Eales, Silverstone, Tindall and a number of players were pictured ringside at the boxing to watch Chris Billam-Smith’s defeat to Zurdo Ramirez for the WBO & WBA cruiserweight titles.
Among who travelled to Riyadh include Nick Pope, Fabian Schar, Dan Burn, Joelinton, Joe Willock, Sean Longstaff, Jacob Murphy, Will Osula and Harvey Barnes.
On the other hand, Newcastle are without Alexander Isak, Bruno Guimaraes, Sandro Tonali, Anthony Gordon, Lewis Hall, Tino Livramento, Martin Dubravka and Miguel Almiron, who are all away on international duty.
