Micah Richards has been looking ahead to this summer, the 2026 World Cup finals.
The finals to be hosted by Mexico, Canada and the USA.
This World Cup will be the first to have 48 countries.
This means the tournament will last longer than usual.
The finals kick off on 11 June 2026 and the 2026 World Cup final will be played on 19 July 2026.
England qualified some time ago of course and Micah Richards thinks that this Newcastle United star has to start for Thomas Tuchel at the World Cup.
Talking on The Rest Is Football podcast, Micah Richards stating: “Lewis Hall has to start at left-back for England. I think he will [be first choice in the World Cup finals].”
You won’t find me disagreeing with the former Manchester City and England defender.
Micah Richards declaring: “Lewis Hall is absolutely amazing. To go from midfield to left-back…his spatial awareness…his timing of his challenges…he’s good on the ball…he’s got a good delivery…he’s got everything.”
Thomas Tuchel was manager at Chelsea when Lewis Hall was coming through the ranks and he knows all about what a special talent he is.
Hall’s defending is continuing to improve under Eddie Howe and his ability going forward is just another level, both his passing and his ability to ghost past opponents.
Micah Richards adding: “His performances over the last two months have been outstanding and he is by far the best in [of England’s left-back options]. “
