Manchester United clinched a famous 2-1 win at Anfield on Sunday to end their nine-year jinx at the ground.
In the process, Ruben Amorim also picked up consecutive Premier League wins for the first time. All in all, a good day’s work from the Red Devils.
Apart from the result, the way Bryan Mbeumo and Amad combined will have pleased the head coach, as will have the grit shown by the players after conceding the equaliser.
The visitors did not let their heads drop, and Harry Maguire, a controversial selection call from the Portuguese, eventually scored the winner.
Full of grit
And Matthijs de Ligt was full of praise for the team for the spirit they showed throughout the contest.
“The fact that we could still score the winner, 2-1, says enough about our mental strength today. We were all really hyped. The focus was really high today. I think the most important thing is we keep continuing that.”
And the Dutchman also let slip the team’s gameplan against Arne Slot’s side. It is known that the team from Merseyside do not have the most stable full-back partnership at the moment.
The team from Old Trafford took full advantage, especially down the right where Milos Kerkez looked rather lacklustre.
