It may have already been leaked earlier this week, but thanks to last night’s Sony State of Play event, it has finally been confirmed that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be heading to the PlayStation Plus library, allowing subscribers the chance to swing into the 2023 action-adventure game at no extra cost.
Launching as a direct sequel to 2018’s Marvel’s Spider-Man and 2020’s Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is the latest entry in the Insomniac Games version of one of the most iconic superheroes of all time, and this Peter Parker iteration has definitely lived up to the accolade.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Is Free With PS Plus
Arriving in the PlayStation Plus catalog for Premium and Extra members from 17 February, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 joins the likes of Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown, Neva, Season: A Letter to the Future, and more in the latest batch of freebies. However, there is no denying that the Insomniac title is the best of the batch here, with Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 receiving critical acclaim at launch, becoming one of the best-selling games of 2023, and is often considered one of the best PlayStation 5 games ever made.
The story follows both Peter Parker and Miles Morales as they come together to defeat Kraven the Hunter who has transformed New York into a hunting ground for other super-powered villains. However, when a Venom symbiote fuses himself with Peter, its negative influence has both an impact on him and his loved ones. Featuring many iconic villains such as Kraven and Venom, as well as Sandman, Scorpion, Mister Negative, and more, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is a feast for Marvel fans and casual gamers alike. And now, it is completely free to enjoy for PlayStation Plus members.
This Is A Welcome “Surprise” For PS Plus Gamers
There is no denying that PlayStation Plus’ monthly offerings can be a bit hit or miss, with some new releases seeing members cancel their subscription after being let down one too many times. However, it is safe to say that February 2026 is the opposite, as many gamers have been waiting for the chance to check out Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 without having to splash the cash.
As such, those about to dive into the action-adventure title have taken to r/PlayStationPlus to share their thoughts, and overall, it seems as though the Marvel title is a welcome addition.
“Congratulations to all the patient gamers! I bought it on launch and I absolutely enjoyed playing it. I’m sure you guys would too!” One kind user shared. For another user, this will be the perfect time to achieve that Platinum: “I finished the game last year, was going to buy it again recently to go for Platinum, but looks like there’s some good news!”
Over on a different thread, the good news continued with one user posting, “Spider-Man 2??? Hell yeah!!” Overall, it seems as though the arrival of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on PlayStation Plus for the first time has been received well by users. Now let us hope that March continues this winning thread.
