Mark Ruffalo Finally Reveals If Hulk Is in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’

Mark Ruffalo Finally Reveals If Hulk Is in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’

Marvel Studios’ audacious crowd-pleaser Avengers: Doomsday will not feature Mark Ruffalo as the Incredible Hulk, it’s been claimed. Set for release at the back end of 2026, it’s the biggest project in the MCU since the days of Avengers: Endgame, reuniting Earth’s Mightiest Heroes against a brand-new yet familiar foe: Robert Downey Jr.’s Victor von Doom. Will the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, Thor, Shang-Chi, Ant-Man, Black Panther, and Captain America have enough power in their ranks to defeat him without the big green guy, though?

In the new issue of Empire Magazine, Ruffalo revealed that he won’t be turning up for the fight in Doomsday, although he remains positive about his place in the MCU. “As long as they keep finding cool things to do with Hulk. It’s given me so many gifts. You know, I probably wouldn’t be in Crime 101 if it wasn’t for [The Avengers],” he said. This raises a number of questions pertaining to the Hulk’s appearance in this summer’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day; could he be in serious danger?

This comes after the Task actor was asked by talk show host Jimmy Fallon why he wasn’t included in last year’s record-breaking Doomsday cast video, which panned across endless chairs with names on them, announcing their involvement to the world. Ruffalo quipped: “They decided that it was better to get rid of me than for me to tell the end of the next movie.”

Ruffalo’s Fallon joke is based on historical foundations, having infamously spoiled a variety of MCU projects across his tenure as the Hulk. During an interview that took place a whole year before Avengers: Infinity War came out, the 58-year-old managed to ruin the devastating ‘snap’ twist for everybody, that saw Thanos single-handedly wiping out half of the universe’s population. He immediately tried to backtrack, but this even led his War Machine co-star Don Cheadle to refuse to do press with Ruffalo.

Even though he prematurely unveiled Steve Rogers’ fate in Endgame“He gets married in this!” — the best spoiler has to be the time Ruffalo accidentally broadcast the opening 20 minutes of Thor: Ragnarok at the world premiere. Just before taking his seat, the star had been live-streaming the red carpet build-up for his Facebook followers, but somehow forgot to end the broadcast as he placed his phone in his pocket. Thanks to Ruffalo, whoever was still eagerly watching could hear the audio of Ragnarok until he realized.

Reflecting on this viral leak on The Graham Norton Show, Ruffalo said Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige eventually thanked him as it had created an unprecedented amount of press for the movie.
