James Gunn has finally revealed that German actor Lars Eidinger will play Brainiac in Man of Tomorrow, the 2027 release that with find Lex Luthor and Superman being forced to team up to take on the ultra-smart android.
This is the first time that Brainiac will have appeared in a live-action, theatrical release, and it is one the most anticipated parts of Gunn’s next DCU entry. Brainiac was created by writer Otto Binder and artist Al Plastino, making his debut in Action Comics #242.
Brainiac is an android from the planet of Colu, and, as per the name suggests, is incredibly smart. His purpose is to gather all the knowledge in the universe, which will seemingly put him on a collision course with Superman and his arch-nemesis Lex Luthor. David Corenswet and Nicholas Hoult will be back in their respective roles as Superman and Luthor, and now Eidinger is the latest addition to the cast. Exactly what the plot of the movie will be is still under wraps, but many will be hoping for a little bit of city-shrinking from the villain.
