I remember speaking about Malo Gusto recently and suggesting that his form was not great.
At that point, earlier this season, he was not playing well in a handful of games and was struggling.
But since that moment, he has been superb and has really found some top form. So as I always like to do here, I wanted to offer him some praise for this little turnaround we are witnessing of late. He’s really shown some solid consistency.
Gusto played a pivotal role in France’s 3-1 win in Azerbaijan over the weekend, having a hand in all three of their first-half goals.
Gusto for France in that game:
- 2 assists (most)
- 4/4 successful dribbles (most)
- 6 tackles (most)
- 2 big chances created (most)
- 64/73 passes completed (88%)
- 3/4 accurate long balls
- 5 recoveries
- 1 goal disallowed
- MOTM
He was superb, and it’s a carbon copy of some his latest games for Chelsea as well.
I sincerely hope this form continues and Gusto, who is still only 22-years-old and will still be a developing player, continues to be an important player for us.
Personally, I always prefer to see Gusto play as a traditional right back. But I also think he’s proven that he can be a very good option in the inverted role as well.
Well done Gusto, you’re shining at the moment and deserve your flowers.
