Luke Shaw makes feelings clear after Ruben Amorim decision – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United’s Luke Shaw is reportedly unhappy with recent events at Old Trafford.

Lack of playing time

The 30-year-old played a significant part in pre-season and looks set to start the season in the back three.

Nonetheless, the last two seasons have been far from ideal for the veteran.

Shaw has been at the club since 2014 but he has had numerous major injury concerns.

The full back only played 15 times in the 2023/24 season and only managed 12 appearances in the entirety of last season.

Fury

It was revealed recently by Ruben Amorim that he has a six-man leadership group in the dressing room at the club.

Naturally captain Bruno Fernandes is the main man but there are also roles for Tom Heaton, Harry Maguire, Diogo Dalot, Lisandro Martinez and even recent signing Noussair Mazraoui.

Consequently, The Sun reports that “as Manchester United’s longest-serving current player, Luke Shaw was extremely frustrated about being left out of Ruben Amorim’s six-man leadership group.”

It has also been stated that “Shaw was fuming about being snubbed, with Amorim hoping the 30-year-old’s disappointment rubs off by the start of the new season.”

The paper even makes the rather large claim that the player’s training performances have even dipped due to the omission.

It is also understood that “to make matters worse 19-year-old centre-back Leny Yoro was extremely close to making the sextet of leaders.”

Nonetheless, Amorim decided that it would be too much, too soon for the youngster in spite of his impressive leadership skills.

Future

The England international has already spoken out on the positive culture shift in the group, stating that there are no longer any “stragglers” in the group.

Paul Scholes has also claimed that Shaw cannot compete as a full or wing back in the Premier League anymore and must shift to a left-sided centre back.

With Lisandro Martinez injured and Ayden Heaven’s inexperience, it will be interesting to see if Shaw can put his disappointment behind him and finally nail down a spot in the first eleven this season.
