Liverpool winger Luis Diaz has not been ruled out as a transfer target for FC Barcelona, as reported earlier this week.
As complications have arisen in the deal for Nico Williams – which had been close to completion – the Catalan club has not entirely shut the door on alternative options.
As such, the Liverpool attacker remains a prominent name on the Blaugrana’s shortlist, with Bayern Munich also monitoring him closely, just as they are also tracking Nico.
Liverpool could consider Luis Diaz’s departure
Now, according to reports in England as relayed by Mundo Deportivo, following a string of high-profile signings, Liverpool are now focused on an equally ambitious set of departures, aiming to raise around £200 million (>€225 million) in player sales.
The Premier League champions have already parted ways with players like Trent Alexander-Arnold, Nat Phillips, and Caoimhin Kelleher, while the likes of Jarell Quansah, Tyler Morton, and Harvey Elliott are expected to follow suit.
On top of that, Diaz could also be considered a candidate for departure should an offer come along, given their ambitious undertaking of raising €225 million from exits.
The Colombian international’s contract with Liverpool runs until the summer of 2027 and talks over a renewal have not progressed.
Barcelona, as mentioned previously, have not exactly closed the doors on Diaz, who not long ago was Deco’s preferred target for the left flank.
It must also be noted that the Liverpool ace was recently pictured with Barcelona attacking midfielder Dani Olmo while on holiday.
However, at the moment, the La Liga champions are expected to press ahead with Nico Williams. Should that operation end up falling through, the focus might revert to Diaz and Liverpool again.
