Liverpool won their second friendly of the night against Athletic Bilbao as Arne Slot’s regular first team put on a show at Anfield.
Mohamed Salah was captain for the night and opened the scoring before missing a late penalty against the Spanish side.
Dutch winger Cody Gakpo scored twice to make sure of the win against a competitive Bilbao outfit.
It was the first chance for the Anfield crowd to see summer signings Hugo Ekitike, Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez, Giorgi Mamardashvili and Florian Wirtz.
Goalkeeper Mamardashvili made a couple of fine late saves while Wirtz missed a couple of chances at the other end, while Ekitike was involved in creating Salah’s opener.
Slot may have more questions than answers at the back, as without captain Virgil van Dijk the Reds looked shaky once more.
But his new-look attack looks quality – and that’s without target Alexander Isak.
As in the night’s first friendly between the sides, the game stopped in the 20th minute to honour Diogo Jota with applause and songs.
Liverpool face Crystal Palace at Wembley on Sunday 10 August before opening their Premier League defence at home to Bournemouth on Friday, 15 August.
