Maggie Simpson is about to have another vocal moment in a new episode of The Simpsons. Having previously been voiced by stars including Hollywood icon Elizabeth Taylor, in tonight’s episode the youngest member of the Simpson family will be played by Freaky Friday star Lindsay Lohan.
The episode will air this week and the actress celebrated her “dream come true” moment with her followers on Instagram, the actress shared a preview of the episode, although this was later edited to show just an image from the episode. In the clip previously included in the post, a future version of the family sees Maggie begging Homer and Marge to not let a teenage Bart drive their car, saying, “Please! Don’t let Bart drive! It’s too scary! He drives so wiggly, and everybody honks at us and yells bad words and shows us fingers!”
Lohan is the latest in a long line of guest stars that continue to join The Simpsons, which is now in its 37th season. Despite being the least vocal of any regular character in the long-running sitcom, Maggie has actually been played by multiple characters over the years. Taylor spoke a single word in the episode “Lisa’s First Word,” while Carol Kane also spoke very briefly in the role back in Season 2. In “Treehouse of Horror” episodes, James Earl Jones and long-time Simpsons star Harry Shearer also brought a humorous voice to Maggie in one-off appearances.
The new episode is titled “Parahormonal Activity,” and takes place a few years ahead of the usual timeline. As well as Maggie being of an age where she can talk, the episode will also see Marge attempting to handle her two moody teenage children, Lisa and Bart, while Homer is surprisingly the “last sane person in the house…or is he?”
‘The Simpsons’ Is Continuing With More Seasons and a New Movie on the Way
The Simpsons has already found its way into the record books, and after gliding by its 35th anniversary with ease, the show is not ready to throw in the towel yet. As well as already being renewed for Season 38 and 39, it was recently announced that The Simpsons Movie 2 is finally in development and will be heading to cinemas in July 2027.
It is 20 years since The Simpsons Movie became a huge hit, generating a $537 million box office and generally positive reviews. Although there have been no plot details revealed for the film, it seems certain that we can expect to see another huge roster of big celebrity guest stars, and the kind of outrageous storyline that has continued to drive the series forward. Stars Dan Castenella, Julie Kavner, Nancy Cartwright, Yeardley Smith, Hank Azaria, and Harry Shearer are all expected to reprise their many characters from the series.
