Letters to The Mag – Newcastle United fans now having their say on what’s going on…

The opinions continue to flow into The Mag, as Newcastle United fans debate the various issues regarding our club.

A nice relaxed summer so far.

Talking more about matters off the pitch.

Including the odd transfer window mention…

Newcastle United fans with the latest collection of opinions below.

Contributions are sometimes too brief to make up into a full article and so we have gathered up a number of recent  views sent in, (if you would like to send anything in, long or short, regarding Newcastle United, then contribute@themag.co.uk is the place):

Dear Mag,

FAO Recruitment Department at Newcastle United

Subject: PR Role

To whom it may concern,

As a lifetime supporter of NUFC, I would like to offer my services in the role of PR manager for the club.

In the midst of the shambles of this transfer window, it has become evident that there is either nobody working in the function of PR, or that they are off on the sick/ on holiday.

Media rumours and speculation abound and truth is hard to discern – you will be aware of the damage this is doing and the discord this has created within the fanbase. Currently, United we are not.

I have no professional qualifications or experience but I’m sure that you will agree that anything is better than nothing.

Many thanks
Mike

Dear Mag,

Does no one else see Jamie Vardy as a short term option?

I think he would be great. Yes he’s 38 but 38 as a footballer is nothing.

Proven finisher in the premier league, he would be a perfect 2nd choice striker who would love to play up front at St James’ Park

What do the readers think ?

Dear Mag,

I think that amongst all the doom and gloom, it is worth pointing out that Newcastle played well in the matches against Arsenal and Tottenham.

These type of pre-season friendlies, especially in the heat and humidity, don’t really lend themselves to our intensity and high press way of playing.

Whilst with far bigger squads, the likes of Tottenham and Arsenal also have an advantage over NUFC when it comes to pretty much putting two different teams of players on the pitch at this stage of pre-season.

Despite that, I thought some of the play was excellent and United more than held their own against these Premier League rivals.

On the balance of play and chances, we deserved to beat Tottenham and didn’t deserve to lose to Arsenal.

Sorry to interrupt the all out negativity that some of our fans thrive on, but there you go.

Dear Mag,

I support your sentiments on Darwin Nunez (ED: This is regarding recent article ‘It has to be Darwin Nunez’).

Prince Peter Orina

Dear Mag,

Swap Alexander Isak for Darwin Nunez and Harvey Elliot.

Good bit of business.

Bill Schofield

Dear Mag,

I read between the lines of all journalists there is certainly truth that when Amanda Staveley and her husband left the club, the whole family atmosphere has gone.

It’s like the mafia have closed the door and the silence is astounding.

We’ve been through this scenario with Ashley and Co.

Dear Mag,

Having my season ticket on my mobile phone.

If I had a choice I would prefer a physical season ticket.

I now go to the match earlier just to make sure I get in on time.

The crowds at the turnstiles by the east stand can be very big now.

When I had a season ticket card, just used to turn up 15.mins before a game, no problem, in the ground straight away.

It would have been nice to have a choice.

Dear Mag,

Chronicle Live has a full squad of so-called football writers covering Newcastle United and yet they have failed to properly engage with the huge story that has been bubbling away ever since Amanda Staveley was pushed out of the club a year ago.

Simply put, the PIF has found other fish to fry and is no longer interested in sportswashing in Newcastle.

Reach should get rid of its callow team of community and content editors and its multimedia producers and spend their money on a real journalist like John Gibson.

Sincerely,

David Taylor

Dear Mag,

If this is all true at the moment, I am disgusted with Alexander Isak.

Remember Matt Busby, no one player is bigger than a club.

No loyalty at all.

Very saddened for our fans.

Good riddance.

Ron Smart

Dear Mag,

Loyalty is a two way street.

Players are bought and sold all the time.

Look at when we sold Anderson and Minteh a year ago, Newcastle forced them out of the club.

Down the years we have had loads of players who have taken liberties.

Some of them not lifting a leg.

Some of them leaving as soon as they could.

Look at Andros Townsend, he was a rat! Newcastle rescued his career and yet he left after only 13 appearances in three months!!

Isak has been here three years and delivered so much.

Not saying he is blameless and the timing could have been better, but if he ends up leaving he will still be far more of a hero than a villain to me.

Will Taylor
