The Cooper family are getting back together again, well, several of them. Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage will welcome Young Sheldon‘s Lance Barber back as George Cooper Sr in the upcoming Episode 18 of the show’s second season.
The upcoming episode of the popular Young Sheldon spin-off will see Barber reuniting with Raegan Revord (Missy), Zoe Perry (Mary), Doc Farrow (Wayne), Matthew Letscher (Fred Fagenbacher), and Rex Linn (Principal Petersen) in the series led by Montana Jordan (Georgie) and Emily Osment (Mandy).Naturally, the only way for the cast to celebrate this was with a TikTok video shared by Revord, Jordan and Barber, which can be seen below.
This is the second time Barber has returned as George Cooper Sr., having previously reprised his role in the first season of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage. The return of the Cooper family patriarch was not exactly expected the first time around, considering his character died in the final season of Young Sheldon. This time around, his return is less of a surprise, as Entertainment Weekly confirmed his involvement in Season 2 a little while ago, although the exact details of his return are still being kept under wraps.
It is clear that having Barber back on set has been a thrill for the cast, and Jordan previously confessed that it was a “blast” getting the family back together. “Anytime that we get to have any of the Cooper family back on set, it’s always a blast. We had a great family dynamic behind the scenes on that show, as we do on this show, so anytime we can bring them back, we’re always welcoming them.”
‘Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage’ Has Continued ‘The Big Bang Theory’s Success
When The Big Bang Theory came to an end in 2019, Young Sheldon had already established itself as a strong replacement show for fans of the series. As the end of the spin-off approached, CBS once again already had the next chapter of the franchise ready to go with Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage.
The series was an instant hit for CBS, immediately drawing in the established fanbase, leading to its renewal for a second season in February 2025, which aired its first half through the last months of 2025 before being renewed for Season 3 in January 2026.
There is still talk of a full Big Bang Theory reunion sometime in the future, but for now, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage looks set to continue its story through to the inevitable conclusion of the pair splitting up, while another new spin-off, Stuart Fails to Save The Universe, was announced in 2023, and will see Kevin Sussman reprising his role as comic book store owner Stuart Bloom, who will be tasked with piecing back together the universe after breaking one of Leonard and Sheldon’s machines, which leads to a split in reality.
Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage Season 2 returns Thursday, Feb. 26 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS and Paramount+.
