Konami says its eFootball title has passed 950m downloads worldwide

January 16 – Konami says its eFootball game has now passed 950 million cumulative downloads worldwide, a figure that underlines the scale the free-to-play title has reached since replacing the Pro Evolution Soccer brand in 2021.

The milestone is being marked with a time-limited in-game campaign built around Manchester United, one of Konami’s longest-standing partner clubs. From today, players can unlock a club pack featuring United’s current starting XI, alongside a selection of historic names including George Best, Peter Schmeichel and Bryan Robson.

Konami is also offering a series of login bonuses and in-game events tied to the downloads landmark, with users able to earn eFootball coins, special goal effects and tickets that provide a chance to win up to 1,000 coins. The rewards strategy follows a familiar model for the publisher, using headline numbers to drive engagement back into the game and keep its cycle alive.

The announcement coincides with the start of online qualifiers for the eFootball Championship 2026 Manchester United Club Event – a competition that will decide the club’s representative at the official eFootball Championship 2026 World Finals, scheduled for next summer.

Konami says last season’s championship events attracted more than 36 million participants worldwide, highlighting the growing overlap between its core player base and its esports ecosystem as it looks to keep pace with EA Sports’ FC Pro juggernaut.

More broadly, the 950 million figure reinforces eFootball’s global reach across console, PC and mobile platforms. As part of the latest update, the newly redeveloped Spotify Camp Nou is now playable in the mobile version, with console and PC versions set to follow in a future update.
