After weeks of negotiations, Barcelona have appeared to finally strike a deal to sign Marcus Rashford this summer.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has already given his customary ‘here we go’ for the transfer, with the Manchester United striker set to join the club on a loan deal.

Barcelona are expected to have an option to sign the player permanently next summer for a certain fee.

Key details of Rashford’s loan move

A recent report from Mundo Deportivo has offered some useful insights into Rashford’s imminent loan move, notably revealing that the Englishman will be presented on Tuesday.

Indeed, the 27-year-old is expected to fly to Barcelona in the coming hours, following which a medical will take place either Sunday or Monday, before he is presented as the newest signing on Tuesday.

A report from SPORT points out that Barcelona have an option to sign Rashford permanently next summer for a fee of just €35 million.

This is a figure Barça won’t mind paying, especially if Rashford ends up living up to his potential in La Liga.

As far as the loan deal goes, the Catalans are set to cover the entire amount of Rashford’s salary, with Manchester United not bearing any portion. But it is unlikely to cause any problems for the club.

After all, the report states that the striker has agreed to take a significant wage cut of 30% on his current salary of €18 million per season.

On Thursday, the Manchester United striker will also join Barcelona’s trip to Asia for the pre-season camp.

Rashford’s addition will go a long way in helping Barcelona add more depth in the attacking unit, which was far too reliant on the front trio of Lamine Yamal, Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha.

It must be noted that Rashford was not Barcelona’s first choice. But after missing out on Nico Williams and Luis Diaz, the club decided to close the deal for the Englishman, who should bring a wealth of experience and versatility to the table.
