WARNING: Includes potential SPOILERS for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ and the first trailer.Kevin Feige addressed the final day of filming for Avengers: Doomsday in a recent video celebrating Hot Toys‘ 25th anniversary. The Marvel president confirmed the production milestone back in September following extensive shoots (with additional filming and reshoots expected at a later date). The cast and crew behind the MCU tentpole appeared to be in high spirits at the wrap party, but Feige has revealed that the last day on the set of the hotly anticipated Phase 6 film was “very emotional.” And he should know – he was there.
“Hello, everyone. Kevin Feige here, from the set of Doomsday,” the Marvel chief said in a video posted on Hot Toys’ official Instagram account (shared below) commemorating the toy company’s quarter-century of craftmanship, which includes several MCU-specific superhero collectibles. “Today’s actually the last day, so it was very emotional. There were a lot of hugs on the last day of principal photography of Avengers: Doomsday, but I had to stop and say ‘congratulations’, and thank you for 25 years of Hot Toys.”
The cast list for Avengers: Doomsday is not short on names, with several MCU heavyweights returning to reprise their iconic roles in the massive crossover event alongside Robert Downey Jr., who will portray the film’s central antagonist, Doctor Doom. However, the full roster has yet to be revealed, as there will reportedly be more filming to bring in even more stars and “add some more characters.” One of those characters is Chris Evans, who is now confirmed to be returning as Steve Rogers in Doomsday, and this time, he’s a father.
‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Trailer: What We Know So Far
The first trailer for Avengers: Doomsday is now playing in theaters ahead of one of this year’s biggest movies – James Cameron’s long-awaited sci-fi spectacle Avatar: Fire and Ash – following a substantial leak before its release that revealed Evans would be returning as Steve Rogers despite taking his final bow in Avengers: Endgame. It didn’t take long for discussions about the teaser to start up online, as fans immediately began dissecting the footage, particularly now that we know Steve is the father of a baby boy. That revelation alone offers a potential hint of what the plot could entail, while further boosting the film’s stacked ensemble.
In the next few weeks, MCU fans will be treated to four trailers for Avengers: Doomsday, with each one expected to focus on a specific character or aspect of the film. Rumors prevail that, while the first centered around Steve Rogers, the second will primarily feature Chris Hemsworth as Thor, the third will zero in on Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, and the fourth will act as a general teaser. The rollout will reportedly position each trailer ahead of Avatar: Fire and Ash for a week at a time, before switching to a different version. There is currently no date for when they will appear online, but cinemagoers are sure to spread the word before then.
Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to be released in the United States on December 18, 2026, which is now less than a year away, meaning Marvel’s frustratingly brilliant marketing campaign should start to ramp up.
