The beloved John Wick franchise stars Keanu Reeves as a retired hitman who is forced back onto the job after some mobsters kill his dog and steal from him, leading him to kill a grand total of 439 people across all four movies. So, why on earth would anyone steal something from Reeves, especially something related to John Wick?! To celebrate production wrapping on 2023’s John Wick: Chapter 4, Keanu Reeves lived up to his “nicest guy in Hollywood” title, by ordering custom Rolex Submariner watches (which retail at $10,400 each!) for the entire stunt crew of the movie. But, in 2023, his house was burgled, and multiple goods were taken, including Reeves’ watches.
Thankfully, Reeves kept his cool, and didn’t evoke the rage of the High Table by killing another 400+ people on his mission to track down the watch, as the Chilean authorities recovered it for him (minus all the killing). According to CNN, Reeves’ missing Rolex Submariner was recovered when Chilean police conducted a raid in the city of Santiago, discovering a stash of stolen goods. Following the raid, the Chilean police released a statement, saying they discovered watches “belonging to a famous actor who was victim of a robbery in Los Angeles in December 2023.”
The authorities say they are currently working to return the watches to Keanu Reeves. Each watch was personally engraved with the words, “THE JOHN WICK FIVE,” the stunt performer’s name, and “THANK YOU, KEANU, JW4, 2021,” written on the watch’s caseback. Now that the watches have been returned, we’re hoping the incident might have lit the spark under Reeves and franchise director Chad Stahelski to make a fifth installment about a hitman recovering his stolen watches.
The ‘John Wick’ Franchise Lives On… Through Spin-Offs
The first John Wick was released in 2014 and re-defined the action genre. Thanks to Reeves’ dedication to the training, Chad Stahelski was able to shoot the extensive fight scenes and stunts with stunning wide lenses and minimal takes, showcasing Reeves in (almost) every shot. The core franchise came to a close in 2023 with Chapter 4, which saw John Wick finally get to rest. Reeves and Stahelski have since teased the possibility of a fifth installment one day. But, it all depends on the right idea coming to them. So far, no such idea has struck.

The action star stole the show as blind assassin Caine in John Wick: Chapter 4.
However, the wider world of John Wick is continuing across multiple mediums. We’ve already seen the first spin-off, The Continental, which was a three-part prequel miniseries on Peacock/Prime Video released in 2023. However, the series opened to a lackluster reception. The next spin-off will take fans back to the big screen. Ballerina stars Ana de Armas as the titular ballerina/assassin of the Ruska Roma family, the same clan John Wick was once associated with. The film releases in theaters on June 7, 2025, and the latest trailer has already teased a kill count that exceeds any previous John Wick film. As well as a new live-action installment, John Wick is also being animated. A new anime prequel is currently in development, although no release date or window has been unveiled yet.
