One of the most divisive movies in the entire DCEU is now available to stream for free, as 2017’s Justice League joins Tubi‘s content library. During the mid-late 2010s, Warner Bros. and Marvel Studios were locked in a battle for the best cinematic shared universe. While the MCU was the clear favorite, the DCEU didn’t back down, rushing head first to establish the Justice League on the big screen. The film starred Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman (both returning from their face-off in Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice), Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, and Ezra Miller as The Flash, with J.K. Simmons portraying Commissioner Gordon and Jeremy Irons as Alfred.
Justice League is now available to stream for free on Tubi since landing on the popular platform on February 1. After the death of Superman in Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Bruce Wayne raced to assemble a team of superheroes to defend the world from threats. The first foe for the new Justice League was Steppenwolf, a giant CGI Apokalyptian creature seeking to collect the Mother Boxes for the DCEU’s ultimate big-bad, Darkseid. Justice League was torn to shreds by critics and fans when it was released in 2017. The film sits at 39% on Rotten Tomatoes, and continued the DCEU’s trend of divisive superhero movies — which had only been broken by Wonder Woman (93%) earlier that year.
Zack Snyder was originally in charge of directing Justice League, and was over halfway through production before a family tragedy caused Snyder to depart the project. After a short break, Warner Bros. brought in Joss Whedon to finish the film. The final result is a horrifying blend of the directors’ juxtaposing styles. Fans hated Whedon’s version of Justice League so much, they bullied Warner Bros. through online campaigns and petitions to release the “Snyder Cut,” which the studio eventually did in 2021.
Will the Justice League Appear in James Gunn’s New DC Universe?
The Justice League are by far the most iconic superhero team in the DC Comics canon. Over the years, the team has featured many members, from the serious Dr. Fate and Martian Manhunter, to the wacky Plastic Man and childish (literally) Shazam!. With the DC Universe getting a hard reset from James Gunn and Peter Safran, fans are curious to see Gunn’s interpretation of the Justice League.
Given their immense popularity, the Justice League are expected to appear at some point in the DCU’s future. However, Gunn appears to be learning from the past mistakes of the DCEU. As a result, it will likely be some time, and many movies and shows, before the new Justice League appears on our screens.

Sorry DC fans, but don’t expect a new Justice League movie anytime soon. At least not in live-action.
Technically, the Justice League had already made their DCU debut in Season 1 of Peacemaker. However, Gunn has since retconned that moment. “Peacemaker is pretty straightforward, with the exception of the appearance by a certain group [the former DCEU’s Justice League] at the end,” Gunn said. “They don’t exist yet.” The DCU’s first movie, Superman, releases in theaters on July 11, 2025.
