Scarlett Johansson, the star of the MCU franchise and films like The Prestige and Vicky Cristina Barcelona, is living one of her dreams. Johansson is set to star in the latest sequel in the dinosaur franchise, Jurassic World Rebirth, which will be released in theaters on Jul. 2. Many in the crew have said that the film revisits the franchise’s origins, and now, the Avengers actor has said that it’s a “love letter” to Steven Spielberg’s original work.
As reported by Variety, Johansson attended the film’s premiere along with co-stars Mahershala Ali, Jonathan Bailey, Rupert Friend and Ed Skrein. Director Gareth Edwards and writer David Koepp also joined the cast, as well as producer Frank Marshall and composer Alexandre Desplat. Reviews are still under embargo, but early box office projections confirm Jurassic World Rebirth is a worthy franchise revival.

‘Jurassic World Rebirth’ Director Shockingly Reveals Why He Wanted to “Hate” the Script
Gareth Edwards opens up about his early days entering Jurassic World.
Johansson gives life to Zora Bennett, a special operations agent who gets recruited to do some exploring on a dinosaur-infested island. The actress has said in the past that she’s been trying to get a role in the franchise created by Spielberg in 1993. During the red carpet event, she told Variety that the film will likely resonate with fans of the original because it has the same DNA (no pun intended), and it was directed by an “enormous fan” of the Indiana Jones director:
So I think it really is a love letter to Steven’s work. Fans of the Jurassic universe can expect to really feel the DNA of the original Jurassic Park in this film.
Edwards, famous for his work in the 2014 Godzilla remake and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, also recalled the moment he knew he had to pursue the director’s gig. It was after getting a text message from his wife, who knew that he was a fan of Spielberg’s Jurassic Park: “She sent me a text which was a news article about Universal looking for a director for Jurassic and as I carried on the call I just copied and pasted it and sent it to my agent and wrote, ‘Is this stupid?’ And we’re going to find out the answer tonight.”
Jonathan Bailey May Have Been Involved Behind the Camera for ‘Jurassic World Rebirth’
Jonathan Bailey, of Wicked and Bridgerton fame, will also make a dream come true when he steps into the land of Jurassic World: “It’s beyond a dream. Jurassic Park was the first film I saw with my family when I was five years old, and they’re all inside, so we’re going to sit and watch it today.” Aside from being one of the main stars, Bailey confessed that he may have had a part behind the camera during the recording of the film’s score (he plays the clarinet):
“Going to Abbey Road with a 105-piece orchestra of world-class professional musicians, playing the John Williams score, but also Alexandre Desplat’s score was incredible, it was completely out of body. The musicians were lovely and let me come in with my slightly wonky technique and get involved.”
