Both Julianne Moore and Sydney Sweeney have become known for playing against type to take on challenging roles that we might not otherwise expect them to be in. Moore has played everything from a porn star in Boogie Nights to a troubled housewife in The Hours, while Sweeney went from playing a telepathic superhero in Madame Web, to a naive nun in Immaculate. Now, the two are together on-screen for the first time, playing mother and daughter in the chilling new Apple TV+ film Echo Valley, and we have our first look at the eerie new project.
First-look photos courtesy of Vanity Fair (seen below) show Moore and Sweeney as Kate and Claire Garrett in Echo Valley, which was directed by Michael Pearce (Beast) and written by Brad Ingelsby (The Way Back). The new thriller promises to zig when it should zag, keeping audiences on the edge of their seat as its plot unfolds. In addition to Moore and Sweeney, the new movie also features Domhnall Gleeson, Kyle MacLachlan, and Fiona Shaw, and though its premise seems simple, not everything is as cut and dry as it appears.
“Kate Garrett works training horses on her southern Pennsylvania farm as she copes with personal tragedy. One night her daughter Claire arrives at her door covered in blood that is not hers, and Kate has to decide what she is willing to do to protect her daughter.”
