‘John Wick’ Star Scott Adkins’ New WWII Action Thriller Gets Release Update

John Wick star, and still the most underrated action icon fighting the good fight, Scott Adkins

will bring his particular set of skills to World War II later this year. Adkins, who is well-known to action fans thanks to his roles in the likes of the Undisputed franchise, Accident Man, Avengement, and One Shot, has finally seen his star rise thanks to his scene-stealing part as Killa Harkan, the head of the German Table, in John Wick: Chapter 4. Now, he’s fighting for his life as a prisoner of war.

New details have now emerged about the project, with the war action thriller changing its title from Death March to Prisoner of War. The movie was picked up for distribution by Well Go USA at the end of last year, with Prisoner of War having now been given a September release window (via Action-Flix).

Scott Adkins has delivered many jaw-dropping, and blood-pumping fight scenes during his vast action movie career, and here are his best.

Directed by Louis Mandylor, who previously shared the screen with Adkins in the Debt Collector franchise, Prisoner of War is based on the true story of the Bataan death march, which saw thousands of Filipino and U.S. prisoners of war being forced to walk between 60 and 70 miles following the Japanese victory at the Battle of Bataan. The movie finds Adkins taking the lead as a pilot who finds himself captured and forced to fight for his life. You can check out the official synopsis below.

“A British airman washes ashore after being ejected from his plane and becomes a prisoner in a Japanese-run POW camp. While waiting to join the infamous Bataan death march, the airman is tortured by the camp commander and is forced to fight for his life against an array of skilled Japanese warriors.”

Alongside Scott Adkins, Prisoner of War will feature a stellar internation cast, including Michael Copon (As Good as Dead, Power Rangers: Time Force), Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone (3 Days in Malay, The Equalizer 2), Michael Rene Walton (Reptile), Gary Cairns (The Channel, Justified), Shane Kosugi (Nine Deaths of the Ninja), Masanori Mimoto (Baby Assassins, Hydra), Gabbi Garcia (Unbreak My Heart), and Peter Shinkoda (I, Robot, Daredevil) as the merciless camp commander.

Aside from Prisoner of War, Adkins is also set to break bad in this month’s action movie western, Day of Reckoning, which sees the action star on the wrong side of the law and facing off with Billy Zane and The Vampire Diaries’ Zach Roerig. Adkins is also set to reunite with fellow action hero and Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning co-star Jean-Claude Van Damme for the Kickboxer reboot sequel, Kickboxer: Armageddon, before joining forces once again with The Raid star Iko Uwais for Skyline: Warpath and doing battle alongside Gladiator and Blood Diamond star Djimon Hounsou in the martial arts thriller One Last Fight. But most exciting of all is Adkins’ reunion with his John Wick co-star Marko Zaror in the action thriller Diablo, which he has described as “the best martial arts action film of 2025?!!”
