John Malkovich Joins Bad Monkey Season 2 Cast on Apple TV+

John Malkovich Joins Bad Monkey Season 2 Cast on Apple TV+

Vince Vaughn’s crime dark comedy Bad Monkey is adding an Oscar-nominated actor to its cast for season 2. Bad Monkey focuses on Vince Vaughn’s Andrew Yancy, a former Miami detective turned health inspector who takes it upon himself to investigate a grisly discovery. Bad Monkey season 2 is set to begin filming this fall.

Thanks to the show’s story lifted from Carl Hiaasen’s novel of the same name, Bad Monkey has gotten great reviews. The series’ cast is also a clear highlight, with Vaughn’s performance especially lauded. Bad Monkey’s cast will soon become even better now that an acclaimed actor is joining the series.

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that John Malkovich is joining the cast of Bad Monkey, although nothing is known about the actor’s upcoming role. Malkovich is a two-time Oscar nominee in the supporting role category thanks to his work in Places in the Heart (1985) and In the Line of Fire (1994).

Since Bad Monkey was developed by Bill Lawrence, one of the most successful TV producers of the modern era, the show has attracted incredible talent. In addition to Vince Vaughn, Bad Monkey is headlined by Michelle Monaghan, Alex Moffat, L. Scott Caldwell, Rob Delaney, Jodie Turner-Smith, Natalie Martinez, and Meredith Hagner.

Given the strength of Bad Monkey’s season 1 cast, it may seem like adding a new star wouldn’t make that big of a difference. However, the fact that an actor of Malkovich’s caliber is joining the cast is a huge deal. Malkovich could easily draw a lot more attention to the underrated series.

Our Take On John Malkovich Joining Bad Monkey’s Cast

Occasionally, audiences take a moment to warm up to certain Hollywood casting decisions; Robert Pattinson as Batman and Heath Ledger as the Joker are two high-profile examples. John Malkovich joining the cast of Bad Monkey, on the other hand, gives me the exact opposite feeling for two reasons.

The most obvious reason I love the idea of Malkovich joining Bad Monkey’s cast is that he is an exceptional actor who makes everything he is in better. Even when Malkovich adopted a ridiculous accent for the movie Rounders, his performance was incredibly entertaining in its own way.

I also can’t wait to see Malkovich become part of Bad Monkey because the show seems perfect for him. Malkovich can obviously handle Bad Monkey’s dramatic elements, but the actor should also excel at the comedic side of the show, since he has embraced the ridiculous and darkly funny in movies like Red, Burn After Reading, and Being John Malkovich.
