Jason Statham’s Action Sequel ‘The Beekeeper 2’ Finally Sets Release Date

Statham is used to taking on bad guys..so, so many bad guys…in his various action movies, but in The Beekeeper 2 it looks like even the tough Brit could have his work cut out for him. Speaking to The Direct, Tjahjanto said:

“I personally can’t wait. The script is so great, and there are so many new villains that are coming in the film. And a film is always great, because – especially a film like ‘Beekeeper’ – it’s always great because the villain element is going to be so unpredictable and colorful, and that’s what we want to do in the second film.”

Filming on The Beekeeper 2 wrapped in December 2025, with Statham being joined by fellow returnees Emmy Raver-Lampman, Bobby Naderi, Jeremy Irons, and Jemma Redgrave. Newcomers for the sequel include Yara Shahidi, Pom Klementieff, and Adam Copeland. After taking on Josh Hutcherson’s nepo baby tech bro CEO in the first movie, it will be interesting to see the “colorful” array of villains that Statham’s ex-assassin will be going up against.

‘The Beekeeper’ was One of Jason Statham’s Biggest Movies

Under the direction of David Ayer, The Beekeeper was released in January 2024 and turned a $40 million budget into a $162 million worldwide box office. As one of Statham’s biggest hits, and landing mostly favorable reviews, the film was already on the road to getting a sequel before it hit streaming.

As an Amazon MGM Studios movie, The Beekeeper found a home on Prime Video, where it became one of the biggest films on the platform, remaining in the streamer’s chart for months. A sequel has already been announced in February 2025 following the film’s VOD release, but with Ayer departing and being replaced by Tjahjanto.

For fans of Statham’s brand of action movie, The Beekeeper was everything they could have hoped for, with brutal, over-the-top violence and the kind of ludicrous plot that only Statham can take on and make look like absolute cinema. It seems that the sequel is looking to up the ante in several ways, including that array of villains. Back in August 2025, Tjahjanto spoke to us about the upcoming movie, and hinted at how he has approached the sequel’s antagonists.

“And I think you’re gonna appreciate this, because, in terms of, like, the villains that we have for Beekeeper 2, especially, like, you’re gonna be blown away just how ‘genre’ it feels, you know… almost like a, like a, something out of, like an anime, like manga pages, you know,… I’m so grateful because with Beekeeper I said to Jason, “Jason, we gonna make this character somebody who has been through the ringer, you know, like, and the only thing that keeps him going is his principle.”
