It’s been a special time for DC fans for the past week or so. Superman is soaring high in theaters at the moment, and it seems DC Studios is laying the groundwork to introduce Wonder Woman and Batman in the DCU sooner rather than later. That said, don’t expect a pair of iconic heroes, who recently got DCEU films, to make their way to the new universe anytime soon.
DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn talked with Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast about the future of the DCU. With Superman dominating the box office, and several exciting projects like Supergirl and Clayface in the pipeline, the rebooted cinematic universe seems to be in good hands. However, when it comes to select heroes, it seems the company is prioritizing others first. Aquaman and The Flash, founding members of the Justice League, have not appeared in the DCU yet. According to Gunn, this will continue to be the trend for at least the next two years or so. By his words, it seems there are currently no concrete plans for reintroducing the characters on the big screen.
