Jack Grealish has undergone surgery to repair the stress fracture in his foot and the Everton forward confirmed that his season is over. The 30-year-old made the announcement from his hospital bed, sharing both his disappointment as well as a determination to return stronger than ever.
Grealish, signed on loan from Manchester City, was experiencing a career revitalisation with the Toffees before the injury. He had scored two goals and registered six assists in 22 appearances and had been a key player for David Moyes.
However, what initially seemed to be a calf injury in the aftermath of the 1-0 win over Aston Villa quickly escalated and medical checks revealed a stress fracture in his foot.
“Didn’t want the season to end like this, but that’s football, gutted,” a dejected Grealish wrote on Instagram.
“Surgery done and now all focus on getting back fit. I know for sure I will come back fitter, stronger and better than before. The support I’ve had since coming to this unbelievable club has meant the world to me.
“The staff, my teammates and especially the fans have been incredible and I absolutely love representing this club. I’ll be backing the lads all the way and doing everything I can to get back as soon as possible. Thank you again for all the love, it means so much. UTFT.”
The injury also ends an outside chance of making it to Thomas Tuchel’s World Cup squad. Grealish, who hoped to impress Tuchel after making the move to Everton, last played for the Three Lions in October 2024.
