It’s finally here! – Newcastle release must-watch special footage from cup final

Relive the moment this historic Newcastle United side won the Carabao Cup and enjoy some new footage of the special day, as the club have finally dropped their match cam footage from Wembley.

An emotional day that meant much to so many watching on and within the playing squad. Dan Burn’s first-half header ended our 25-year wait for a Wembley goal, Alexander Isak doubled the lead and our 70-year wait for a domestic trophy was ended.

You can see up close what it means to the players and staff, you might even see yourself twirling a scarf in the crowd, in the now-released match cam footage.

Gateshead-born Graeme Jones couldn’t hide his emotions as he looked into the crowd of black-and-white with tears on his face and his fist pumping in the air. Jacob Murphy, absolutely elated as he ran with the trophy in hand.

A range of emotions on display throughout the post-match celebrations, featuring Dan Burn’s dressing room dancing, Yasir Al-Rumayyan’s message to fans as he held the trophy and Kieran Trippier’s pre-match words in the tunnel.

‘Freed from desire’ blasting in the changing rooms post-match with the Toon squad gathered in song felt an incredibly apt way to end the footage from Wembley.

Celebrations continued into Box Park as the black-and-white party in London raged on with the team and fans connected under one roof to soak the moment in together after leaving the stadium.

Newcastle United chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan hoisted the trophy to the Toon support and have his message to the dedicated Magpies.

“That’s the first.. and it’s not going to be the last,” said Al-Rumayyan, directly to the crowd. It feels like a massive turning moment in the project, of which there have been a few, but the weight of trophyless decades has finally been lifted as we push into the new era.

Hopefully that subsides any doubts people may have had in whether PIF is still invested in our project. This is only the beginning.
