I want to stay at Roma for a long time.

Matías Soulé is enjoying a golden moment with the Giallorossi: the team’s top scorer and a consistent performer in Serie A.

The Argentine gave an interview to SportMediaset where, in addition to analyzing Roma’s excellent form, he expressed a clear desire for his future.

“I feel great here. I’m very happy with the city, the fans , and Roma. I dream of staying here for a long time,” he said.

The Argentine emphasized how his development is inextricably linked to the coach’s work. If Ranieri called him “the future,” today, under Gian Piero Gasperini, he has become an undeniable “present”: “I think he’s changed me in everything I do,” Soulé admitted.

The credit goes to the coach’s “winning mentality,” which has redefined the role of attackers: “He transmits what he wants. I like having the ball, pressing forward, and that’s what we do. We attackers are his primary defenders. I feel great in midfield, as an attacking midfielder or a winger.”

Despite Roma struggling to score through their strikers, Soulé has always been ready, providing goals and assists: “I try to give my all in every game, not just with goals but also with assists. The team comes first, and then each of us. We’re a family; we fight for our goals.”

Regarding their excellent standing in the league table, the striker wanted to remain cautious, while not hiding their final ambitions: “We’re calm; it’s too early to talk about the Scudetto. Everyone dreams of it—me, the team, and the fans—but it’s too early.”

The key is continuity, born from long-standing work: “The faith Ranieri has given us has brought us closer together. It’s given us the strength we needed. Then, with Gasperini’s arrival, we continued that work. In 2025, we achieved great things. We must continue like this, improving every week.”

Soulé also commented on his relationship with the team’s other Argentine star, Paulo Dybala. Despite the debate about their possible coexistence, calm reigns in the locker room: “We don’t talk about it. We’re calm. We’re always together. When we’re not here, we’re at home playing PlayStation together. He’s an extraordinary player, and getting him back is important for us. There are no players like him; he raises the bar in everything.”

Finally, regarding the national team, the player reiterated his definitive choice: “I’ve always chosen Argentina. I’ve never considered a change. I’m Argentine and I’d like to play for my national team.” Although disappointed by the break without a call-up, he said he was calm: “If I continue like this, the time will come. For now, I’m focused on Roma.”

And then, in closing, a wish: “What would make me happy at the end of the season? Winning something with Roma, obviously. That would be the icing on the cake.”
