It’s been a busy day so far in the Premier League up and down the country.
Newcastle announced the signing off £69m Nick Woltemade in a club-record move from Stuttgart, Chelsea beat Fulham in the early kick-off thanks to some help from VAR, Sunderland won at home again, Spurs lost to Bournemouth and Man Utd scored a stoppage-time penalty to see off Burnley.
But all eyes are on Leeds now as we take on the newly promoted side live on Sky Sports, hoping for our first win of the new 2025/26 season.
Howe spoke to Sky in his pre-match interview and was immediately asked about our new 6ft 6″ striker, having nothing but good things to say about the tall and technical German who has clearly made a great first impression.
The boss called the 23-year-old a “great guy”, big presence and top talent who he believe will offer a lot to the team, both on and off the pitch:
“He’s got a presence about him, that’s for sure! It was great to meet him in person yesterday.
“What a warm, great guy, friendly. I think he’s going to add a lot to our changing room and add a lot on the pitch.
“He’s got real technical skills that we’ll utilise and hopefully he can score a lot of goals for us.”
In his absence today, Will Osula starts up top, with Jacob Ramsey also coming into the side alongside Sven Botman.
Newcastle XI (3-4-3): Pope – Schar, Botman, Burn – Trippier, Bruno, Tonali, Livramento – Murphy, Osula, Ramsey. Subs: Ramsdale, Lascelles, Thiaw, Krafth, Hall, Willock, Miley, Barnes, Elanga.
Howay the lads!
