Hot Chip have announced a greatest-hits album. Out September 5 via Domino, Joy in Repetition has songs from the longstanding British dance-pop group’s first seven studio albums, from 2005’s debut Coming on Strong through 2019’s A Bath Full of Ecstasy. Closing the tracklist is previously unreleased song “Devotion,” which is out today alongside a Will Kindrick–directed music video that was filmed in Japan. Watch it below.
“There’s joy in doing something again and again,” Hot Chip singer Alexis Taylor said in a press statement. “That’s true of rhythms, of grooves and of making records together for 20 years. We’re still doing it. We still love doing it.” He went on to describe “Devotion” as “a celebration of the devotion to doing this project together.”
Joy in Repetition’s cover artwork was painted by Sir Peter Blake, known for co-designing the album cover for the Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. Hot Chip shared their latest album, Freakout/Release, in 2022. Last year, the band collaborated with Sleaford Mods on a pair of new songs to benefit the charity War Child.
