Henry Cavill’s Highlander reboot is really starting to ramp up its pre-production, and hot on the heels of director Chad Stahelski revealing that filming will finally get underway in September, Collider has now revealed a big casting announcement for the new iteration of the classic Christopher Lambert and Sean Connery epic fantasy.
It looks like the movie is bringing about a Man of Steel reunion for Cavill as he will be joined by his former DC father, Russell Crowe, in an undisclosed role. So far, it has not been revealed who Crowe will be playing, but it will surely not be long before we find out.

One obvious role for Crowe to take on would be that of Juan Sánchez-Villalobos Ramírez, the immortal mentor to Lambert’s Connor MacLeod in the original movies, played by Connery. The age difference between Cavill and Crowe would certainly fit the bill, as Cavill at 42 and Crowe at 61 is close to the difference between the original leaders, who were 29 (Lambert) and 56 (Connery) at the time.
What Is ‘Highlander’ About?
The Highlander reboot is expected to follow a similar plot to the 1986 original, which follows swordsman Connor MacLeod as he discovers that he is one of a number of immortal warriors who can be killed only by beheading. After living somewhat peacefully for several centuries, MacLeod settles in New York City and is soon dragged back onto the battlefield when his greatest enemy returns to kill him and thus obtain “The Prize,” which sees the last surviving immortal obtain all the power and knowledge of his fellow, now dead, immortals.
