Harvey Barnes keeps his place! – How Newcastle and Crystal Palace lineup at St James’ Park

The team sheets are in ahead of one of the defining nights in Newcastle’s Premier League campaign so far.

Crystal Palace come to St James’ Park from South London, and although they’re coming off the back of a 5-2 humbling off Manchester City, are still one of the form teams in the league right now.

But we’re in even better form, so it should be a close contest tonight. Here’s the lineups:

(4-3-3)
Pope – Trippier, Schar, Burn, Livramento – Guimaraes, Tonali, Joelinton – Murphy, Isak, Barnes

Subs: Dubravka, Wilson, Gordon, Targett, Krafth, Osula, Willock, Longstaff, Miley

It’s an unchanged defence from the 4-1 win over Manchester United, with Tino Livramento on arguably his best run of form since joining last season.

Joelinton is the one to watch in midfield tonight, as he needs to avoid a yellow card or he’ll face a two game suspension.

And Jason Tindall has deservedly given the nod to Harvey Barnes to start at LW ahead of Anthony Gordon, despite Gordon recently returning to fitness.

(3-4-2-1)

Henderson – Munoz, Richards, Lacroix, Guehi, Mitchell – Hughes, Lerma – Sarr, Eze, Mateta.

Subs: Turner, Nketiah, Franca, Clyne, Kamada, Wharton, Esse, Chilwell, Devenny

Former transfer target Marc Guehi, who was suspended for the Eagles’ game at the weekend, returns in the heart of the Palace defence.

There’s also a big call in midfield from Oliver Glasner, as Lerma and Hughes start over Wharton and Kamada.

Every game between now and the end of the season has been called a ‘cup final’ – and tonight’s game is no different. Howay the lads!
