Harry Redknapp has been talking about Newcastle United and Eddie Howe.
The former Spurs and West Ham manager, discussing the NUFC Head Coach and his team now exactly five months into the season.
Newcastle United playing Wolves next, a 2pm kick-off on Sunday afternoon at Molineux.
Harry Redknapp with bad news for Eddie Howe and Newcastle United as he predicts a 2-1 defeat at Molineux for NUFC:“I can actually see an upset here, don’t rule Wolves out.”
Newcastle United looking to make it four Premier League wins in a row, having won 3-1 at Burnley, 2-0 home to Crystal Palace and 4-3 at St James’ Park against Leeds United.
Harry Redknapp backing up his Sunday match prediction when talking to BetVictor: “It’s almost definitely all a little late but fair play to Wolves; they seem to have a bit of form from somewhere. I’m sure a few weeks ago Newcastle looked at this game and assumed they’ll cruise it, I’m not so sure they will now.”
Wolves have looked better recently and nobody should expect this to be an easy game, Rob Edwards’ side were unlucky to lose 2-1 away at both Liverpool and Arsenal, before their recent five points from the last three Premier League games.
However, apart from their last home game when West Ham threw in the towel and lost 3-0, Wolves have only picked up one other point all season at Molineux. Indeed, you need to go back nine months to April 2025 when Wolves won a PL home game, before this last (West Ham) one. That was also a 3-0, ironically against a Leicester City side who were already doomed to relegation.
My assumption is that Wolves are having one of those periods of time, that often happens, where once a group of players know relegation is inevitable, they actually then feel less pressure and start to play better.
Regardless of that though, I think that if Newcastle United play as they have done recently, especially showing the same character and commitment, then they will win at Molineux.
Harry Redknapp adding: “Newcastle have been doing so well in the league but they didn’t really lay a glove on Man City in the semi-final the other night.”
I wouldn’t really agree with that, I thought it was more a case of Man City carrying the luck and the fine margins going against United.
Newcastle United created more clear chances than Manchester City and also hit the woodwork twice, whilst James Trafford pulled off a world class save to keep the Wissa header out.
Newcastle also had only themselves to blame as well, as other chances went begging, especially that Yoane Wissa one in the first half, failing to hit the target with only Trafford to beat.
Which is of course what any match is about, taking your chances and keeping it to a minimum how many chances the opposition get.
Wolves have failed to score in ten of their 21 Premier League matches and in only three of them, have they managed to score more than one goal.
In only three of their ten home PL matches have Wolves managed to concede less than two (or more) goals.
To me, this is for sure a match where Newcastle United have to go on the attack, against a suspect Wolves defence. I think NUFC should get the two (or more goals) needed to hopefully make sure of a win, a clean sheet would obviously be a huge bonus as well.
With Newcastle playing on Tuesday and then this match pushed back to Sunday, I am feeling a lot more confident after five days between matches, than if it had been only three days.
