Epic Games Store has officially announced its new free game for December 18, and it’s a pretty big departure from last week’s offering of Hogwarts Legacy. Not that I’m complaining, mind you: variety is the spice of life, and all that. In fact, God of War fans should pay attention to this one.
Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel is available via the Epic Games Store now, but be warned you’ve only got 24 hours to claim the title before it’s replaced by another limited-time freebie. This will continue until the end of Christmas, so stay frosty if you want to nab every game.
Jotunnslayer: Hordes Of Hel Is Free To Claim Now
Don’t miss out on this offer
Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel is an action-roguelike that focuses on horde survival. It’s not actually too dissimilar to Vampire Survivors, with gameplay that involves guiding an enemy through a thick sea of enemies while upgrading your weapons and skills until everything is one big chaotic soup of damage. It’s brilliant.
The game’s look and lore are inspired by Norse mythology, and while it’s currently a single-player-only game, developer Games Farm previously teased it was looking into a post-launch co-op mode. As this has yet to materialize, we don’t know if that’s still on the cards.
This News Confirms The Previous Leak Was Fake
Kind of a shame
The news that Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel is our new Epic Games Store freebie confirms the previous leak of all free games for the Christmas period was, as suspected, fake. That’s kind of a shame, given the “leaked” list contained Red Dead Redemption 2, but I’ve no doubt the real lineup of games will be just as exciting.
These are the games we got in 2024, so you can get a flavor of what to expect.
